Physicians from Moldovan districts can prescribe high performance investigations to early detected cancer patients

Chisinau, 19 July /MOLDPRES/ - Physicians oncologists from Moldova’s districts starting from July this year can prescribe high performance investigations for early diagnosed cancer patients.

The National Health Insurances Company (CNAM), jointly with the Oncological Institute, extended the right of prescription to high performance services also to the oncological physicians/in charge of oncology from the consultative sections of the district hospitals, in order to enhance the access and shorten the waiting time for the first tomography.

The referral for the carrying out of these investigations has been earlier issued only by physicians specialists from the Oncological Institute’s diagnosis consultative centre.

At the same time, the waiting time of these patients at investigations in last June was shorted from 45 to 5 days. This became possible, after CNAM had signed agreements with more providers of high performance medical services for 2,000 investigations, worth about 4.8 million lei (about 240,000 euros).
