Chisinau, June 13. /MOLDPRES/- The presidency announced today that it has set up the Concept on creation of an anti-corruption court and invited society to come up with recommendations. The new court would have up to 15 judges who will examine all cases from the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office and all appeals on the documents of the National Integrity Authority, including requests for confiscation of unjustified assets.

According to the document made public by the Presidency, the judges of the court will be selected by competition by the CSM based on merit and experience, and appointed by the president of the country. Judges will be selected on the experience as a judge in the Republic of Moldova or abroad (potentially other relevant experience of candidates qualified to be appointed judges), on the basis of an impeccable reputation and professional qualities.

Judges will have a 5-year mandate, a salary close to that of a judge at the Supreme Court of Justice after the reform (around 45 thousand lei), state security upon request and service housing for those outside Chisinau. The court will actually begin its work when at least four judges are appointed.

The document also sees that applicants for judge position will apply to get access to state secrets simultaneously with registration in the competition. Refusal of access to state secrets can be grounds for refusal in appointment.
