Chisinau, 15 June /MOLDPRES/ - A visit to the central Straseni district by Prime Minister Dorin Recean has started in the Miclauseni settlement, where spouses Victor and Ana Ciolacu develop a business in agricultural tourism, beekeeping and fruit growing, known as the Conacul Mierii (Honey Mansion) boarding house, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

Founded ten years ago with resources collected abroad, the boarding house has 160 bee gardens, which annually produces more than 6,300 kg of honey. A part of the products is exported to the European Union and are also sold at the Honey Mansion, along with other apicultural products.

During time, the Ciolacu family has benefited from the support of the PARE 1+1 programme, implemented by the Organization for Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises Sector Development, through which a photovoltaic station was constructed. Also, the development of the business was possible due to the support provided by projects financed by the U.S. Agency for International Development, Polish Solidarity Fund, as well as due to post-investment subsidies, provided by the Agency of Intervention and Payments for Agriculture. The arrangement of the Honey Mansion was carried out within the Dor de Codru tourist itinerary, carried out with the support of the Migration and Local Development Project of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)-Switzerland.

„I am happy to know hard-working and success people, who developed a business with soul and passion, which contributes to the development of the local community and to the promotion of the region they belong to,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.

The official noted that such picturesque destinations must be included in Moldova’s tourist itineraries and the government would invest in the creation of the infrastructure needed for the promotion of the native agro-tourism.
