Investments of 60 million dollars to improve quality of education in Moldova

Chisinau, June 28. /MOLDPRES/- Moldova will benefit from funding from the World Bank worth 40 million dollars for the implementation of the Education Quality Improvement Project, supplemented by 3 grants worth 20 million dollars, offered by external partners.

It is about a grant of 4.8 million dollars from the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), a grant of 5 million dollars from the Early Learning Partnership (ELP) and a grant of 10 million dollars from the Global Concessional Financing Facility (GCFF).

Government approved the signing of the Loan Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The financial means will be used for the construction of three classic high schools in the north, south and center of the country, for the modernization of the infrastructure, the digital transformation of learning environments in about 200 schools and the rehabilitation of approximately 15 schools and 15 kindergartens.

"The implementation of the project represents a significant support for the modernization of our educational system. Due to this funding, we will be able to reduce inequalities in access to educational services, improving the quality of the services offered, focusing on the most disadvantaged and vulnerable children in the Republic of Moldova, and refugees from Ukraine", Minister of Education and Research Anatolie Topală said.

The project will be implemented in the next six years, in the period 2023-2029.
