Olimp high school in Rezina to be renovated with Japan's help

Chisinau, July 11. /MOLDPRES/- The theoretical high school "Olimp" in the city of Rezina will benefit from a grant for the renovation of the institution, granted by the Japanese Government. The contract signing ceremony took place today at the Embassy of Japan in Moldova.

The grant offered by the Japanese side provides 172 thousand dollars for repair works of a study block. The project will be financed by Tokyo Government under the "Kusanone" Program.

"We will contribute to the creation of best conditions for the smooth development of the educational process, because education is the future of the country, education has made people more resilient, wiser, education gives people the opportunity to be optimistic. By continuing the reforms in education, Moldova will become a member of the European Union, which means a fair society, where honest work is rewarded", Ambassador of Japan to Chisinau Yamada Yoichiro said.

Veronica Gheorghiţă, Olimp high school director thanked the Japanese Government for support and assured that all efforts will be made to use the grant as effectively and in a timely manner. "Moldovan children deserve to have access to quality studies under favorable conditions", Veronica Gheorghiţă said.

Kusanone programme was launched in the Republic of Moldova in 2008. So far, Japan has provided non-refundable funding of seven million dollars for over 80 projects in the education, health and public utilities.
