New support program for about 50 tourism businesses voted by Moldovan cabinet

Chisinau, July 12. /MOLDPRES/- More businesses in the tourism sector, economic development at the local level, creation of new jobs, including the promotion and export of products will become possible through the Program support for development of small and medium tourism business approved today by the government, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The program is aimed at applicants who carry out entrepreneurial activities in tourism or related activities, with potential for organizing tourism activities in villages, communes and cities with a population of up to 30,000 inhabitants. Priority will be given to applicants who are involved in the rural tourism value chain.

The program has three components: information and promotion, non-reimbursable financial support and monitoring and evaluation.

The non-refundable financial support can cover a maximum of 70% of the value of the investment project and cannot exceed the amount of 500,000 lei per beneficiary. The budget of the program is about 30 million lei for a period of 3 years, with the possibility of being supplemented with funds from local and foreign donors.

It is estimated that at least 50 small and medium-sized businesses will benefit from this program, which will generate the creation of 50 new jobs and the maintenance of at least 100 existing jobs, as well as investments in the national economy, worth of approximately 40 million lei, and at least 25 enterprises will diversify their range of services and products.

"Through the support offered within this program, innovation, entrepreneurship and the sustainable development of these enterprises will be encouraged, which will have a positive impact on the national economy", Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Dumitru Alaiba said.

Supporting small and medium enterprises is an action that is part of the 20 governmental actions of the National Plan "Building European Moldova".
