Moldovan government increases amount of financial means for road fund in 2023

Chisinau, July 19. /MOLDPRES/- 736 million lei will be earmarked additionally to the Road Fund for the maintenance of the 5,951 km of national roads, including the repair of regional roads in poor condition. Government has approved changes to the Program on distribution of the means of the road fund for the national public roads for 2023, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

Of the total amount, over 123 million lei will be used for the routine maintenance of roads and sidewalks in summer, and 35 thousand lei will be intended to cover the expenses of the winter period 2022-2023 and initiate the preparation of stocks of anti-slip materials for winter 2023-2024.

In terms of works and services for periodic maintenance, the amount previously allocated will be increased by about 33 million lei, and 500 million lei will be offered for the repair of regional roads with the "G" index. It should be noted that the priority sectors for repair were selected using the road asset management system and constitute 63 sectors, with a length of 88 km of regional roads located in 29 districts of the Republic of Moldova.

For capital repairs of roads and bridges, additional funds are allocated in the amount of 8.7 million, and for the management of public roads, following the decision of the International Court of Arbitration, which ordered the full payment of the works and accumulated debts to a construction company, an additional amount of 39.7 million lei is earmarked.

The changes fall within the financial means available for the Road Fund, approved by the State Budget Law for 2023.
