Mechanism of selection, evaluation and disciplinary liability of prosecutors to be improved

Chisinau, July 20. /MOLDPRES/- Parliament voted today in the second reading a draft law aimed at improving mechanism of selection, evaluation and disciplinary responsibility of prosecutors.

The legislative initiative was set by the Ministry of Justice. It sees consolidation of the independence of the Inspectorate of Prosecutors and its transfer from the subordination of the General Prosecutor's Office to that of the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP). At the same time, the draft sees the merging of the Board for the selection and career of prosecutors and the Board for evaluating the performance of prosecutors, in order to strengthen the mechanisms for the selection and evaluation of the performance of prosecutors. The CSP composition is to be revised.

The legislative initiative was voted in the second reading by 54 deputies.
