EU citizens to be able to work in Moldova without work permit

Chisinau, July 20. /MOLDPRES/- Citizens of EU member states will be able to work in the Republic of Moldova without a work permit. The initiative was approved today by the Parliament in the second reading, with the vote of 55 deputies.

With the adoption of this draft law, foreign citizens will benefit from the facility to work in Moldova without having previously obtained the right or a temporary residence permit for work purposes. The authors also propose that foreign students should be able to work more hours under a temporary study permit.

The legislative changes are aimed at solving the problem of labor shortage and making our country more attractive for foreign citizens. At the same time, the liberalization of access to work for people from EU member countries corresponds to the plan of necessary measures to be implemented after the Republic of Moldova obtains the status of a candidate country for joining the European Union. The Government will also approve a list of countries for which the same facilities will be provided.

According to the data of the National Employment Agency, in 2022 about 65% of private sector companies faced the problem of employee shortage.
