Chisinau, July 20. /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu today visited Sculeni customs post, which is undergoing an extensive expansion and modernization process, the presidential press service has reported.

Seven new customs control lanes on the way out of the country have already been completed and, starting today, cars and buses will benefit from truly European waiting and control conditions. By the end of the year, the works on the entrance direction will also be completed, and the customs post will be fully modernized.

"Thanks to the European Union for the financial support given to the reconstruction of this important infrastructure objective. A country with European aspirations also means European customs posts, where citizens are treated with respect, and the employees of the Customs Service and the Border Police have good working conditions," said the president.

Maia Sandu said that improving the national infrastructure is a priority: "Our country must have modern customs posts, roads, bridges and railways. We already have the first results. We will continue to invest in the country's infrastructure, because the European way of life also means European infrastructure".
