Sappers neutralized arsenal of 117 explosives

Chisinau, July 25. /MOLDPRES/- Codru Battalion sappers neutralized an arsenal of ammunition from the World War II period, near the village of Răscăieții Noi, Ștefan Vodă district.

According to the battalion commander, colonel Gheorghe Racu, the explosive objects were found in a field following agricultural works. The teams of sappers, led by Major Mihail Josan and Captain Ion Golovei, went to the spot and carried out the works in the area on July 22-24.

They identified 61 artillery shells of different calibers, 51 hand grenades of various types, an anti-tank mine, four 81 mm and 82 mm grenade launchers, as well as 1,432 7.62 caliber cartridges.

Sappes warn that if there is or is supposed to be some ammunition, citizens are asked to notify the local authorities.
