Chisinau, 25 June /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today visited the Ciumai village, southern Taraclia district, and moved to the lyceum from the settlement, which was thermally insulated and its façade was for the first time repaired after 57 years. Due to the European Village national programme, over 200 pupils and 43 teachers of the settlement enjoy better conditions for the education process. One hundred education institutions will be renovated through this governmental initiative in all, the presidential press service has reported.
The Moldovan president also visited the vocational school, where courses of Romanian language take place within the national programme on the learning of the Romanian language, approved by the government. The teachers from the local lyceum and the educators from the kindergarten study the Romanian language for free now. Almost 9,000 people from all over Moldova, both young people and adults, have already registered for this programme.
„I had good discussions with local residents during the visit. I informed them about the new segment of road, M3, Chisinau-Giurgiulesti, which passes nearby the Ciumai village. Within the project, a road of access to the area of the lyceum and the residential zone of the village was constructed too. The Ciumai village is a good example of the support provided by the European Union for local development. With European support, the kindergarten from the village benefited from solar panels, renovated medical room and places for play. I told them that such infrastructure projects are carried out all over the country and that the governance is firmly engaged to modernize each village and town,’’ the head of state said.
