Chisinau, 25 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Civil Aviation Authority (AAC) has informed that, if passengers’ rights are not claimed in the wake of prolonged delay in flights or in case of an emergency landing, they can submit a petition to AAC. The specification was made, after an aircraft Chisinau-Dusseldorf had landed at the Otopeni Airport from Bucharest because of a technical error.

„As for the frequent situations from the last period concerning the prolonged delay of flights and identification of a technical error in the  self-piloting system, which led to an emergency landing at the Otopeni Airport, thus ensuring the passengers’ safety, AAC, in its capacity of institution empowered with the protection of consumers in the civil aviation sector, reiterates that, if flights are cancelled or delayed for a long period, the air operator is obliged to provide every needed assistance, including the providing of food, accommodation, as well as compensations, depending on the great-circle distance between the airports,’’ reads a press release by AAC.

At the same time, the Authority specified that, ‘’if passengers’ rights are not claimed, they are urged to send a petition to AAC.’’

An airship making the flight Chisinau-Dusseldorf landed at the Otopeni Airport from Bucharest on 24 July evening, because of a technical error. The flight was made by the FLYONE air company. A reserve airplane of the company today was to take over the passengers from Otopeni and to make the flight to Dusseldorf. Contacted by MOLDPRES, representatives of the FLYONE Company did not answer at the phone to give more details on the case.
