Chisinau, July 26. /MOLDPRES/- Moldova will limit the number of diplomats from the Russian Federation accredited to Chisinau. Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration made the statement today.

“For many years, even decades, we have witnessed and been the target of some quite hostile types of activities and policies by the Russian Federation. Some of them were carried out including through the embassy of the Russian Federation in Chisinau. Just recently I saw information with an excessive number of antennas. In our opinion, it is very important that the diplomatic services of our country, but also of other countries, focus on the development of good relations, or when a good part of the diplomatic presence of another country is directed towards efforts to destabilize our country and actions which do not belong to the standard methods of action of some diplomatic services, we reached, in common agreement with the institutions and political decision-makers, the need to limit the number of accredited diplomats from the Russian Federation in the Republic of Moldova, so as to create a situation in which there are fewer individuals who act to destabilize the situation in our country", he said.

The official added that the decision was also communicated to Moscow authorities.

A local TV channel published yesterday a journalistic investigation on existence of a reception system on the roof of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Chisinau. Several people were presented who would be involved in espionage actions in our country.
