PHOTO About 40 settlements of Moldova stay disconnected from power supply following strong storm

Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ - A number of 37 settlements remained fully disconnected from power supply and 123 settlements from 17 Moldovan districts – partially disconnected from power supply till 10:30.   

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), the institution’s employees continue to intervene in the areas hit by the torrential rains and strong wind, recorded in northern and central Moldova on 25 July evening.

During 6:00-11:00 today morning, rescuers made 23 interventions to de-block roads and cut trees in northern regions. Three missions of liquidating the consequences of the bad weather were carried out in settlements from central Moldova.

„The teams of rescuers and firemen were demanded for carrying out works of cutting trees which fell down in the wake of the strong wind on two streets in the Edinet municipality. Rescuers’ intervention was needed also in the Alexandreni settlement, for the de-blocking of a vehicle from under a tree which collapsed in the wake of the storm. Also, works of cutting trees were carried out, in order to de-block a road. At the same time, interventions for removing branches and trees which fell down took place in the districts of Drochia, Rascani and Falesti,’’ reads an IGSU press release.    

IGSU teams have carried out 117 interventions in all in the wake of the strong storm. Presently, the institution’s employees are involved in the carrying out of seven missions, with the involvement of 28 rescuers, with seven special intervention vehicles, in order to carry out works of cutting trees and de-blocking the areas hit.  

Also, territorial commissions for emergency situations, which assess the material damages, work on the spot.
