Moldovan parliament speaker has farewell with Ambassador of Latvia

Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has had a farewell meeting with Ambassador of Latvia to Moldova Uldis Mikuts. The diplomat ends his mandate in Moldova. The parliament speaker thanked the Latvian ambassador for effort and for his country’s assistance to implement the European Commission’s recommendations and align with the EU’s Acquis, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.   

„I appreciate every effort which you have taken personally, in order to help Moldova, especially in the context of the situation in the region, as well as of the reforms underway. We rely, in continuation, on the Latvia’s support on the European integration way of our country,’’ Igor Grosu said.

At the discussion, the parliament speaker referred to multiple bilateral visits and meetings, which represent an important signal of Latvia’s support for the course of Moldova’s reformation and modernization. Igor Grosu highlighted, in particular, a last year meeting of the parliament speakers of the Nordic and Baltic States, in the NB8 format, among which Latvia as well. This meeting took place after an eight-year break.      

The parliament speaker wished the Latvian diplomat much success, voicing hope that Moldova would remain priority on Latvia’s external agenda and the good cooperation would be continued for as many as possible joint projects.
