Chisinau, 27 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Agency for Energy Efficiency (AEE) has received a donation of advanced equipment and devices worth 81,000 dollars, due to be used for the carrying out of the energy audit. The assets were provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the government of the United Kingdom, within the Moldova Energy Security Activity (MESA) project.

The set of equipment donated includes instruments for measuring the consumption of energy, thermal chambers for detecting losses of heat, instruments for the analysis of air’s quality, equipment which allows the preliminary analysis of the solar flow which falls on the building, the light’s intensity. As a result, the equipment for the carrying out of the energy audit is essential, in order to help the owners of buildings, systems and installations reduce the costs of energy and improve the energy efficiency.

AEE director Ion Muntean said the donation was important for more reasons, in particular, through the fact that it will enhance the quality of energy audit reports and auditors will not have to purchase expensive equipment, the cost of which will be subsequently introduced in the cost of energy audit services.

Attending the event, the head of the USAID’s Economic Development Department, William Trigg, said the endowment of the Agency with last-generation devices would help improve the quality of the energy auditing on Moldova’s market. ‘’A qualitative energy audit will allow the commercial and household consumers reduce the consumption and dissipation of energy, contributing to a greener and more ecological future for Moldova,’’ the USAID official noted.

Auditor Nicolae Covalenco said the donation would help auditors make more accurate measurements and get more detailed data on the consumption of energy by buildings and installations.

The Moldova Energy Security Activity project has duration of four years and through this project, USAID will invest at least 59 million dollars in the strengthening of the energy sector, in order to enhance the long-term energy security and consolidate Moldova’s sovereignty.
