Chisinau, 31 July /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today approved the extension of the emergency state in Moldova by a period of 60 days starting from 3 August this year, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
In the parliament’s plenum, Prime Minister Dorin Recean said that the need to prolong the state of emergency was prompted by the maintenance of the danger to the national security, taking into account the scale of Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine.
„The war is nearby us, especially in the last time, when the civilian infrastructure from Odessa is bombarded. Russia attacks our neighbours, kills them and creates difficulties for them to live. This, undoubtedly, hits us to, through the disturbance of the logistic chains, breaks in transport chains and the hybrid war waged by Russia against Moldova,’’ PM Dorin Recean said.
In the context, the prime minister noted that Moldova must intervene quickly, when the state’s security is endangered and the continuity of the infrastructure, energy and gas services should be ensured.
„On the period when the emergency state was established, the government acted responsibly, used this instrument exclusively in order to solve the citizens’ problems and did not make abuse of the leverages provided,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.
The official reiterated to the MPs that he wanted the ceasing of the emergency state, but this means that this unjust war must be stopped, Ukraine should regain its territories and the Russian troops should be withdrawn.
