Moldova to host 46th OIV Congress

Chisinau, Oct. 9 /MOLDPRES/- Moldova will host the 46th OIV
(International Organisation of Vine and Wine) Congress in 2025. This is after the OIV member states approved the decision to organize the first OIV global congress in the the second centenary of the OIV in Moldova, a decision welcomed by the executive committee and the general assembly of the organization, held on October 2-4, in Dijon, France.

"The Republic of Moldova will be the honorable host of the event in 2025, the most important event of the prestigious international organization of wine-growing states. It is an important announcement for our country, made just before the Wine Day and which represents a testament to Moldova's commitment and contribution to the wine sector", the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) said.

"Hosting the OIV Congress in 2025 in the Republic of Moldova is not only an extraordinary honor, but also a great responsibility and opportunity to reflect Moldova's dedication and passion for wine-growing. We eagerly and responsibly anticipate the events that will take place in the coming years and we are confident that the OIV Congress in 2025 will be a central moment for the Moldovan wine industry, strengthening the reputation and visibility of our exceptional wines at the global level", said Andrian Digolean, state secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.

Set up in 1924, the OIV has the important role of harmonizing and standardizing the wine sector worldwide, providing support and assistance through an extensive network of over 1,000 international experts in 50 member states. On the occasion of the OIV Centenary, the year 2024 was declared as International Year of Vine and Wine, which will be celebrated with prestigious events worldwide.
