Chisinau, 13 October /MOLDPRES/ - The progress made in the implementation of the justice reform has been appreciated by European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders. The EU official made statements to this effect at the autumn session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), in response to a speech given by Deputy Parliament Speaker Mihail Popsoi, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

Also, Didier Reynders referred to the vetting of the judges and prosecutors and the setting up of an anticorruption court. ‘’The real problem is that it is necessary to act quickly in the process of reformation in Moldova and at the same time, we need to make sure of the full aligning with the European standards. Therefore, it is important that the recommendations of the Venice Commissions are observed. So, we try to keep this balance. Yet, we are sure that very progress is made in Moldova and we keep a close eye on it, putting big emphasis on the adjusting to the European standards,’’ the European Commissioner for Justice said.

At the same time, Deputy Parliament Speaker Mihail Popsoi expressed appreciation for the support provided by the European partners to Moldova in the process of implementation of the reforms as to the rule of law state. ‘’Despite the challenges of the Russian aggression against Ukraine and the attempts by the oligarchs, who fled the Moldovan justice, to destabilize the situation in Moldova, the majority at rule is fully dedicated to the reforms of the rule of law state, democracy and improving the well-being of the Moldovan citizens,’’ Mihail Popsoi also said.  He also gave a speech at a discussion on the role of the Council of Europe in the prevention of conflicts, reestablishment of the reliability of international institutions, promotion of the global peace and ensuring a just peace in Ukraine and of the sustainable security in Europe.
