Moldovan parliament speaker says leadership to do its utmost for elections to be fair, people to vote freely

Chisinau, 3 November /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today had a meeting with a delegation of the European Parliament’s election observation mission, which came to Moldova to monitor the ballot due on 5 November, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.  

During the discussions, the parliament speaker thanked the observers for the interest showed, stressing that the authorities relied on the free and fair elections. In the context, the parliament speaker referred to certain threats, among which Russia’s propaganda, as well as numerous attempts of rigging the ballot through corrupting voters.  

„This is an effort of Russia and of the corrupt groups to destabilize the situation and come to power through these corrupt actions. At the same time, the state’s institutions intervene to combat these phenomena and the unlawful acts,’’ Igor Grosu said.   

The participants in the discussions said that the general local elections from this year were quite important, as the voters will decide on who are those over 12,000 people due to lead the country locally in the next four years. ‘’Therefore, we will do our utmost for the elections to be fair and the people to vote freely,’’ Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu reiterated.
