Chisinau, Nov. 11 /MOLDPRES/- National Forest Extension and Rehabilitation Program was launched in Moldova today. The authorities have made 35 million saplings available for planting.
The campaign is organized by the Ministry of the Environment and Moldsilva Agency, under the auspices of the head of state. The program provides for the rehabilitation and creation of new forests, on an area of 145 thousand ha, during 10 years (2023-2032).
This year, the planting campaign takes place in November - December.
In the next ten years, the forested areas will be expanded by about 150 thousand ha, both on new land and on heavily degraded forest land, public property or, for the first time, on private property land. These provisions are contained in the National Forest Extension and Rehabilitation Program 2023-2032, proposed and initiated by President Maia Sandu.
"It is a program that will produce many benefits for the agricultural sector, where humidity is important and the appearance of rural areas in the country will also change", according to the Government of the Republic of Moldova.
