New British Foreign Minister visited Chisinau

Chisinau, Nov. 17 /MOLDPRES/- New Foreign Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland David Cameron visited our country yesterday evening. The official had a meeting with President Maia Sandu and Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.

Maia Sandu expressed gratitude for supporting Ukraine, which is crucial for Moldova's security and the stability and prosperity of Europe. "We discussed the security of the Black Sea, bilateral cooperation and our united position against corruption," wrote Maia Sandu on a social network.

For his part, Popescu said he discussed with the official about the common interest in strengthening strategic relations between Moldova and Great Britain, for the benefit of our diaspora. "I had the pleasure of welcoming in Chisinau the new Foreign Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, David Cameron, who is in transit in our country. We addressed topics such as the signing of agreements for the mutual conversion of permits and reducing roaming charges, initiatives that will bring significant advantages to our community in the Kingdom. Consolidating the relationship with Great Britain is an essential element in strengthening the resilience and security of our country", said Nicu Popescu.

The deputy prime minister also noted "the importance of intensifying collaboration in efforts to fight corruption and bring to justice those responsible for harming the state and citizens."

This is Cameron's first visit to Moldova.
