Moldovan deputy has meetings with officials of German Bundestag, Federal Chancellery, Federal Government in Berlin

Chisinau, 17 March /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov has had more meetings with officials from the German Bundestag, Federal Chancellery and Federal Government, on the sidelines of her working visit to Berlin. The discussions were focused on Moldova’s European integration way and the agenda of reforms of the Moldovan authorities, the government’s communication department reported.     

The Moldovan officials tackled the regional situation and the developments on the country’s European integration agenda with MPs: Chair of the Committee on European Affairs from the Bundestag Anton Hofreiter; Social Democratic Party’s parliamentary group's spokesperson for foreign affairs in the German Bundestag, Nils Schmid; a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs on behalf of the Cristian Democratic Union, Knut Abraham.    

The officials discussed the level of carrying out of the last three recommendations of the European Commission and the current priorities of the government as regards the process of negotiation for accession to EU. The sides also referred to the importance of boosting the dialogue on the parliamentary dimension, especially in the context of the exercise of evaluation of the European legislation, including in relation with the national one.    

Deputy PM Cristina Gherasimov and State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development Jochen Flasbarth discussed the generous German assistance for Moldova.  

The Moldovan official thanked for the support provided by Germany through assistance programmes in economy and infrastructure, for the benefit of Moldova’s citizens. Gherasimov voiced hope that Moldova would be backed in continuation, including on the way of accession to EU.  

In Berlin, Deputy Prime Minister Gherasimov exchanged opinions with German Chancellor's Foreign and Security Policy Advisor Jens Plötner, German Chancellor’s European Policy Adviser Undine Ruge. The sides discussed the present security challenges in Europe and Moldova, the process of Moldova’s accession to EU and the progress made in the carrying out of the European agenda.   

Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Gherasimov thanked all interlocutors for the constant multi-sectoral support provided by Germany to Moldova during years. ‘’This is the proof of a strong friendship and solidarity, which we value and which we want to deepen,’’ Cristina Gherasimov stressed.
