Moldovan writer would have turned 75 years

Chisinau, 4 November /MOLDPRES/ - A departed prose writer, essayist, publicist Nicolae Vieru would have turned 75 years today.   

According to writer Vladimir Besleaga, ‘’Nicolae Vieru was concerned about the eternal subjects: the life, its sense, love and death.’’  

In the context, writer Arcadie Suceveanu said that Nicolae Vieru had been the most important prose writer of the 1970s.  

Nicolae Vieru was born in the Bezeni commune, northern Floresti district, in 1947. He studied at the History Faculty of the Moldovan State University and afterwards he finished the Higher Courses of Literature at the M. Gorki Institute from Moscow (1974-1976). Vieru worked as editor at the Moldova-film studio and was appointed director of Hyperion publishing house in 1995. 

The writer made his debut with poems in the Tinerimea Moldovei (Moldova’s Youth) newspaper.  

Nicolae Vieru died in Chisinau on 3 March 1995.
