DOC // New fixed tariffs, capped prices for renewable energy; Moldova's National Energy Regulator's decision published in Official Journal of Moldova

The decision of the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) on the application of new fixed tariffs and capped prices for electricity from renewable sources was published in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial) today.

According to the decision, fixed tariffs differentiated by eligible production technologies will be applied for small eligible producers. Specifically, a tariff of 2.37 lei/kWh was approved for biogas (animal waste and agricultural residues); 2.30 lei/kWh for solid biomass (direct combustion); 2.04 lei/kWh for biogas (municipal solid waste); and 2.36 lei/kWh for biogas (municipal liquid waste/wastewater).

At the same time, ANRE’s decision sets a capped price of 1.44 lei/kWh for electricity produced by wind installations, which will be used in auctions to get the large eligible producer status.

According to ANRE, the size of the fixed tariffs and capped price were determined considering international developments of the investment and operational costs for renewable technologies and the foreign exchange rate forecast for the 2025 year.

The ANRE decision on the approval of the new tariffs comes into effect on the date of its publication in the Official Journal of Moldova.

According to statistics data, in the last five years, the electricity generation capacities from renewable sources have constantly increased. Moldova set the goal of reaching a 30-per cent share of renewable energy in electricity consumption and 27 per cent of renewable energy in final energy consumption by the 2030 year.
