Ministers Claudiu Năsui and Eugen Osmochescu sworn in today

Claudiu Năsui will lead the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, while Eugeniu Osmochescu will head the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. The new ministers took the oath of office today in the presence of President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Vasile Tofan.

In his speech, the Prime Minister emphasized that the Government’s mandate has two major objectives – developing a European-style economy and building an efficient state: “We need an economy that grows faster, more investments, companies that can compete and export, and bold changes wherever things can work better. We will achieve all this by firmly continuing our path of European integration. We will support the new ministers in the reforms they propose for a stronger economy and a state that works better for the people.”

The official noted that another objective is to make the state more efficient by reducing waste, bureaucracy, and processes that consume time and resources without bringing sufficient value to citizens: “We need a leaner, faster state that is more attentive to the needs of citizens and entrepreneurs.”

Referring to Minister Claudiu Năsui’s mandate, Vasile Tofan said that he will have an important role in promoting economic reforms, including those regarding state-owned enterprises and the management of state assets, as well as in simplifying the relationship between the state and the business environment. With regard to the mandate of the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, the Prime Minister stressed the need for a results-oriented approach and more efficient use of resources allocated to the agricultural sector.

“Agriculture is undergoing major structural changes and is facing challenges generated by climate change. We must adapt to this new reality, attract more funds, and use the available resources as efficiently as possible, with the greatest possible impact for farmers and the country’s economy,” said Prime Minister Vasile Tofan.

After the swearing-in ceremony, the new ministers were introduced to the teams of their respective ministries.
