Moldovan speaker meets young interns in public service

Speaker Igor Grosu met with more than 100 young people who are interning in state institutions.

These are students applying the knowledge gained in college and working between June and November 2025, within the Parliament Secretariat, the State Chancellery, the Presidential Administration, as well as in ministries and other public institutions. About half of the total beneficiaries of the fourth edition of the Program are young people studying abroad who have chosen to do their internship in institutions of the Republic of Moldova.

"I am pleased to see such a wide variety of institutions you have chosen for your internship. We are thinking about how to make this Program more sustainable to align with the internship or vacation periods. We want it to be more attractive for young people," Grosu said.

The discussions addressed the activity of the institutions where the young people work, as well as aspects that should be improved. Additionally, the interns asked questions regarding current issues and the personal experience of the speaker.

"Use this opportunity, whether you will work in the public or private sector in the future. It is useful to know how things work from the inside. Also, I encourage you to share the experience with other colleagues because we want to expand this Program," he added.

The law on paid internships in public service was adopted by Parliament in 2023 and aims to create conditions for students and graduates to gain professional experience as well as facilitate their employment process. Since the launch of the Program, 268 young people have interned in a public authority, and some of them have been employed.

The program of paid internships in public service is dedicated to young people aged between 18 and 29, students or graduates. Recently, Parliament adopted a legislative initiative that provides for increasing interns' scholarships to 3,500 lei per month. Additionally, the allowances received by the interns' mentors have also increased.
