Former Moldovan PM awarded by Ukrainian president

The former prime minister of Moldova, Dorin Recean, has been awarded the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, first class, one of the highest honors of the Ukrainian state. In Chisinau, the order was presented by Ukrainian Ambassador Paun Rohovei on behalf of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Paun Rohovei said that the Order represented official recognition of Dorin Recean's contribution to strengthening the Moldovan-Ukrainian partnership when he was holding the office of Moldova’s Prime Minister (2023–2025).

‘’Ukraine greatly values Moldova's unwavering solidarity,’’ said the ambassador, He noted that the distinction awarded to Dorin Recean represented ‘’a symbol of gratitude on behalf of the Ukrainian people’’ towards Moldovan partners for the support they feel day by day.

Ukraine appreciates the ‘’consistent and principled' stance of the former Prime Minister in support of sovereignty and territorial integrity, in a context marked by the most severe trials for the Ukrainian state. Rohovei said that Dorin Recean's efforts in charitable initiatives and promoting Ukraine's image worldwide had been valued.

The distinction was awarded under the Decree of the President of Ukraine No 617 dated August 23, 2025.

The Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise is one of the highest honors bestowed by Ukraine, awarded to individuals who significantly contribute to the development of international cooperation and the support of the Ukrainian state.
