Show Homework, inspired by Stalinist Deportations drama to be presented at PMAN train exhibition
On 25 July, at 8:00 PM, near the train exhibition in the Great National Assembly Square, Vasile Alecsandri Theatre of Bălți will present the play Homework. The event is part of the exhibition program State Terror in Soviet Moldova. Scope, Victims and Perpetrators.
The play, based on the namesake novel by Nicolae Dabija, evokes the drama of deportations during the Soviet regime. The show reenacts scenes from that era: arrests, executions, torture, famine and deportations to Siberia.
Several chairs will be set up in the Government Square, but for comfort, participants are encouraged to bring blankets.
The train exhibition is open on 5-27 July 2025, between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM. Visitors can see two train cars similar to those used during the deportations, housing documents, archival images, publications, personal items, video materials and VR content. A special section is dedicated to the famine of 1946-1947.
The event is organized by the Government of the Republic of Moldova, through the State Chancellery and Ministry of Culture, with support from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, National Archives Agency, Moldovan Railways and the Directorate General for Government Buildings Administration.
