
US, EU welcomed inauguration of new government in Chisinau
Chisinau, February 17 /MOLDPRES/- Head of the EU Delegation to Chisinau Janis Mazeiks and US Ambassador to Moldova Kent D. Logsdon welcomed the inauguration of the new Government, led by Dorin Recean.
"We send congratulations to new Prime Minister Dorin Recean and his cabinet. We look forward to continuing to work with the Government and people of Moldova to further promote integration with Europe and address current challenges, building a democratic, prosperous and secure future," the US Ambassador said.
Janis Mazeiks said that the EU welcomes the quick appointment of Prime Minister Dorin Recean and of the new government. "We are ready to work with the new Government to boost efforts on key reforms, especially in the justice, financial and anti-corruption sectors, in the interest of all citizens and in accordance with the nine steps that the Republic of Moldova must take to further progress on the EU integration", he said.
At the same time, both officials thanked former Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița for her strong commitment to building the democracy of the Republic of Moldova and for the way she led the Government in a period of unprecedented crises.
At the same time, congratulatory messages on the occasion of the appointment of a new Government in Chisinau were also sent by other Western officials.
The government led by Dorin Recean was inaugurated on February 16, after obtaining a vote of confidence from the Parliament.
