Europe Day 2025 // European Village comes to Chișinău and Căușeni to celebrate fundamental values of European Union
The European Union Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, together with the embassies of EU member states will mark Europe Day 2025 with special events organized in various regions of the country. The European Village will open in Chișinău on 9 May in the Great National Assembly Square, and will continue in Căușeni on 17 May, offering visitors a wide range of educational, interactive activities and surprises for all generations.
This year's events will celebrate the 75th anniversary of Schuman Declaration, the founding act of the European Union. During the European Village, which will take place on 9 May in Chișinău's Great National Assembly Square and on 17 May in Căușeni, 19 EU member states will showcase their cultural and culinary traditions. Additionally, 56 projects funded by the European Union will provide visitors with information about the support offered to the Republic of Moldova in areas such as rural, economic and social development.
In both locations, the public will enjoy educational, interactive, and musical activities, with the evening culminating in concerts featuring artists from Moldova and Ukraine, including Vali Boghean, Zdob și Zdub and Pașa Parfeni. Europe Day events will not be limited to Chișinău and Căușeni but will also take place in other cities, such as Cahul and Ungheni, in cooperation with local authorities and the network of Euroclubs.
Besides these activities, the European Film and Culture Festival will bring film screenings, exhibitions, and dances to various locations across the Republic of Moldova, from May 9 to 31, with free entry for all those wishing to discover European cultural diversity.
"On Europe Day, we celebrate unity, peace, and prosperity. Above all, peace is the foundation upon which everything is built. A country that chooses war, destruction, and oppression is doomed to corruption and lawlessness. The war waged by Russia against Ukraine is a painful reminder of what truly matters. Moldova has felt the impact of Russia's pressure—through economic intimidation, energy blackmail, and disinformation campaigns aimed at dividing society. The European Union stands with you! This year, on Europe Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to the values that unite us and make us strong: Peace, Prosperity and Dignity. Because Europe is not just a place. Europe is an idea. Europe is a choice. Europe is your family. Europe is YOU," said Jānis Mažeiks, European Union Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova.
These activities underline the European Union's commitment to the values that unite member states and support the development of the Republic of Moldova, contributing to strengthening relations and promoting cultural diversity.
