„ANSA specialists said that the meat must be bought only from authorized places: butcher’s shops, food stores, etc.

Also, the lamb meat should come from the authorized units from the sanitary and veterinary viewpoints and delivered to food units, which will sell it directly to end consumers. The validity term recommended for the lamb meat is 72 hours (3 days) and it should be preserved at a checked temperature of +2 - +4 Celsius degrees. The lamb meant got in precarious hygiene conditions, uncontrolled from the sanitary and veterinary viewpoints, might lead to the appearance to food poisoning.

According to ANSA, when buying eggs, their external appearance will be examined: the shell must be clean, hard, intact and without spots; the eggs should be marked with the producer’s code and must come from authorized packing centres, in line with the standards of commercialization applicable to eggs. The date indicated on an egg is the deadline for consumption, which cannot exceed 28 days after the egg laying.

In the context, ANSA recommended that consumers attentively read the label of products, in order to take knowledge of the product’s quality and composition, check the integrity of the packing, subject to sensorial control the quality of the food products they are set to buy (colour, smell, appearance, taste, etc.) and understand the irregularities detected at territorial food safety departments.

„Avoid the unauthorized street commerce, which contributes to the appearance of food poisonings and endangers the health or even life of consumers. So much the more, the risk is higher in the context of the pandemic triggered by COVID-19,’’ ANSA specialists said.
