295,000 students to receive 1,000 lei before new school year
About 295,000 students from grades I–IX will benefit from a one-off aid of 1,000 lei. Parliament voted today in the second reading on the amendments to the State Budget Law for 2025.
The adjustments involve increasing budget revenues and expenditures by 647.7 million lei without altering the budget deficit, which remains at 17.9 billion lei.
For the assistance provided to students, 300 million lei will be transferred to the state social insurance budget.
Additionally, 50 million lei will be allocated to support the employees of Moldova Railway enterprise, and the Government’s intervention fund will be supplemented with the same amount to manage emergency situations.
100 million lei will be redistributed for the renovation and equipping of catering blocks in educational institutions, while the allocations for the salaries of employees in the budgetary sector will be increased to meet the normative framework.
For the second reading, the deputies proposed 26 amendments totalling 275.1 million lei, of which 4 million will be transferred to local budgets. Salaries for over 10,000 employees in the social system, including personal assistants and social workers, will be increased by 10%.
Significant support will also go to the media. 35 million lei will be allocated for compensating distribution costs of the print media and for implementing the Media Subsidy Fund.
On the revenue side, an increase of 300 million lei in VAT collections is estimated, along with a 38.8 million lei increase in revenues collected by budgetary institutions. Disbursements of grants from external sources will increase by a similar amount.
Additionally, the deputies approved amendments to the Social Insurance State Budget Law to support the indexing of pensions from April 1, 2025, and the payment of new social benefits.
