Express European Village national programme: community centre modernized in central Moldova village
Chisinau, 24 June /MOLDPRES/ - The community centre from the Scorteni village, central Telenesti district, has been capitally rehabilitated. The works were carried out within the Express European Village Programme and brought benefits to those over 2,000 residents of the village. The investment amounts to over 450,000 lei.
The project included repair works inside the building, the modernization of the façade and the thermal insulation of the building’s foundation. At the same time, the sidewalks were paved and the adjacent area was arranged.
Constructed in 1972, the community centre from the Scorteni village has never been repaired. Twelve years ago, only the windows were replaced and so the cultural events and the activities meant for children were held in improper conditions.
Due to the building’s capital rehabilitation, the cultural institution now hosts more circles, including a dance circle and another one of whistlers. The Țărăncuța folk band works also here, who participates in diverse contests, representing the settlement with pride. Over 50 children are involved in these activities in all.
The overall value of the project is of 452,000 lei, of which over 447,000 lei was allocated by Moldova’s government through the National Fund for Regional and Local Development and about 5,000 lei represented the settlement’s contribution.
The mayor of Scorteni, Ion Turcanu, says that the village residents, including those about 300 children who attend the gymnasium or the kindergarten of the settlement, now enjoy a modernized community centre, where they can spend the time and participate in diverse events, including concerts. Also, on days off, diverse essential activities are organized here for children’s development and socialization. And adults often meet at the community centre at important events for the community.
According to data by the National Office for Regional and Local Development, 81 cultural buildings and historical monuments have been renovated/modernized/endowed with furniture so far, through the European Village, first edition, and Express European Village national programmes, thus improving the living conditions for about 260,000 people from 103 settlements.
