
Moldsilva Agency to investigate situation at Edinet Forestry Enterprise
Chisinau, 9 February /MOLDPRES/- Moldsilva Agency management announced today that it has notified itself and ordered the formation of a commission that will conduct an internal investigation on the situation within Edinet Forestry Enterprise and alleged acts of illegal logging.
"Following the information spread in public, Moldsilva Agency notified itself and by order of director Dumitru Cojocaru it was ordered to form a commission that will conduct an internal investigation. This working group includes specialists from the agency, who to boost internal control and highlight the quality of forestry works will check the documentation of the parquet measure, highlighting the timber and compliance with the rules for releasing wood on the forest floor from the management of the entity from Edinet ”, a communiqué of the institution reads.
At the end of the investigation, all results will be made public and at the same time other measures will be announced deriving from the conclusions of the verifications.
At the same time, Moldsilva Agency reiterated the importance of working with people in the event of illegal logging and other violations of the forest fund and will ensure rigorous controls upon receipt of petitions or information regarding such acts.
Earlier, media wrote about illegal logging in the public forest space in several localities of the country, in some cases being large-scale deforestation.
