Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/- The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) will make the necessary political steps to push the fight against corruption, and the citizens get to feel this directly by eliminating the abuses that some state officials are doing on them. PDM leader Vlad Plahotniuc made the statement in an interview.

According to Plahotniuc, the institutions responsible for fighting corruption need to be more incisive, especially, with regard to the criminal groups that are actually the basis of the most corrupt ones.

“It is not enough to arrest only the head of an institution that committed acts of corruption, because the criminal group can recover. The entire schema should be removed. People expect the corrupt fields to be destroyed at the bottom. I once said the need for shock therapy. Well, in the field of corruption, this really needs to be done, the responsible institutions need to get involved in this issue, to let shy away. We all know how it used to be in Moldova, no one dared 3-4 years ago or earlier to touch senior officials. We now have dozens of such cases only in the last two years, including convictions. So, steps can be taken, we need some more determined and faster ones”, he said.

He noted that the party will insist that all those guilty of offenses, including the robbery of the billion will respond. “We, through the political and legal levers we have, will insist that this happens,” he said.

Plahotniuc said he does not intend to hold any post after the parliamentary elections. “I do not have such plans, not just in terms of the prime minister, but also other positions. My concern is that the position I hold to support good governance and development of the country, and I also want to contribute to a change in the way in which politics is made, a change of attitude of politicians towards citizens and getting closer to them and solving the problems they have. That is what politicians should do, not to make the tour of the televisions or to count their likes on Facebook”, he said.
