Chisinau, 11 May /MOLDPRES/ - Citizens who travel to Russia, Ukraine and Romania today were informed about the new mixed electoral system. The action was organized at the Chisinau-based railway station by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) and the Centre for Continuous Electoral Training (CICDE).

According to CEC, passengers of the trains going to Moscow, Bucharest, Kiev and Odessa received the Guide of Voter from Abroad.

The distribution of informative materials for the Diaspora at border checkpoints started in early last April. The action is organized within a comprehensive campaign of information and electoral education, titled, Democracy Matters.

At the same time, within the campaign, information points are to be opened at Moldova’s embassies and diplomatic missions, where Moldovans will be able to be informed to go to vote conscientiously and prepared.

The campaign of informing voters is held within a project, Strengthening Democracy in Moldova through Inclusive and Transparent Elections. The project is implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Moldova, with the financial support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Embassy of the United Kingdom in Chisinau, through the Good Governance Fund and the Embassy of the Netherlands through the Matra programme.
