Moldova's energy interconnection with West discussed in USA

Chisinau, 5 June /MOLDPRES/- The leader of the Democratic Party of Moldova, Vlad Plahotniuc, pays a visit to the USA to meet political leaders, members of civil society and representatives of the American university. Among the topics due to be discussed are the one aimed at Moldova’s energy interconnection with the West.
The PDM leader had first meeting with Texas Congressman Pete Olson. The event took place on Monday in Houston, Texas.
“We discussed various topics in the economic and social sector, the reforms, as well as a very important issue for Moldova –energy security. We also talked about the next parliamentary elections and Moldovan-American relations in general,” he said.
Plahotniuc said that Moldova is currently working to ensure the country’s energy alternative. He informed the US Congressman about the construction of the Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline.
“Congressman Olson is a well-known of the energy themes and was interested in Moldova’s efforts to diversify energy supply. Definitely our country needs the energy alternative and efforts continue very seriously in this direction,” he said.
Olson conveyed a message on behalf of the 800,000 people in Texas. “We love Moldova, which is a wonderful country and an ally for us. I hope to work together and become closer, as we have been in the last year. We have a very good relationship, to fortify it and make it stronger,” he said.
The delegation to the USA includes deputy heads of the Democratic Party Andrian Candu and Vlad Cebotari.
