Chisinau, 27 September /MOLDPRES/- 70 policemen benefited from the rent allowance. At the same time, another 30 applications for financial support for renting housing will be examined this week.

The deputy head of the General Police Inspectorate, Gheorghe Cavcaliuc, said that 43 new applications were examined at the third Commission meeting on the way of paying the allowance for renting housing for policemen.

Submission of applications to receive compensation for rental housing began in August. “As chairman of the committee, together with my colleagues, we will ensure the examination in terms of applications and adopt the necessary decisions. The decision to grant housing allowance was welcomed by colleagues, as it is an essential support for law enforcement. I encourage all policemen who rent to submit the necessary documents to the relevant commission in order to benefit from this right provided by the government,” he said.

The financial support for renting housing is set according to the official salary. It varies between 1,300 and 2,000 lei.

In late June, the government approved a regulation stating that civil servants with special status within the Ministry of Internal Affairs will get cash compensation for renting housing. Beneficiaries are officials with special status within the Interior Ministry, having no housing and having permanent place of residence located more than 30 km from the workplace. The amount of the compensation will cover the cost of renting the dwelling, set in the lease, but will not exceed the employee's official salary. However, if the husband and wife are civil servants with special status within MAI, both will receive compensation for rental housing.
