Moldovan Academy of Science awards prizes in science, innovation for 2018

Chisinau, 11 November /MOLDPRES/ – The solemn meeting of ASM members and the scientific community of Moldova dedicated to the International Day of Science for Peace and Development was held at the Academy of Sciences of Moldova /ASM/, on Monday, 11 November.

During the event, it was held the awards ceremony of ASM for valuable results obtained in the field of life sciences, exact and engineering sciences, as well as for promoting science in mass media.

The event was attended by the presidential adviser Corneliu Popovici, the state secretary in the field of research, Elena Belei, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to Chisinau, scientists, culture and art.

In his greeting message, the head of ASM, academician Ion Tighineanu, reviewed the main results obtained in the field of science and innovation. At the same time, he addressed a series of problems related to the financing of science and the re – establishment of research institutes within the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC) under subordination of ASM.

The international day of science for peace and development is celebrated on 10 November, according to the decision of the general conference of UNESCO of 02 November 2001. The day of science in Moldova is marked on the same day in accordance with the Government Decision of Moldova №1,083 of 22 November 2010 – On the establishment of the professional holiday of workers in the field of science and innovation the Science Day.
