Chisinau, 24 December /MOLDPRES/ - Specialists have elaborated eight recommendations for the management of tiredness and anxiety in the wake of COVID-19. The recommendations are part of the campaign titled, Support for physical and psychological rehabilitation after COVID-19, carried out by the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS), in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.

A PhD in medicine, university lecturer at the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF), Jana Chihai, at a webinar said that the people who had gone through COVID-19 suffered from tiredness, sleep disturbances, anxiety or a bad emotional state and came up with recommendations for managing these states. ‘’Protect you vital energy. Organize the day’s activity and set your priorities, eliminating the useless consumption of physical and psychical energy. Extend the term of tasks’ implementation. Compensate 10 minutes of work with 30 minutes of rest. Sleep enough time, not less than 8 hours and not more than 10 hours per night. Inform yourself correctly. Call the family physician or consult reliable sources. As long as you do not know what you must do, the brain perceives the situation as a danger. Deal with activities which bring you pleasure,’’ Chihai said.

She added that the former COVID-19 patients should maintain the relations with their beloved people, the family, friends and include relaxation techniques in the daily schedule. ‘’Avoid the alcohol, cigarettes and noxious substances, as they give a state of pleasure for a while, followed by a state of organism’s inhibition. Call a psychologist or a psychotherapist when you have nobody to talk to or when you feel that your emotional state is worsening. The specialist in mental health is not emotional involved, is objective and can help you overcome the anxiety, depression or other worrying states,’’ the physician also said.

As many as 138,213 cases of infection with COVID-19 have been registered in Moldova so far and 2,825 people died of this virus.
