Moldovan foreign affairs minister speaks out for maintaining positive dynamic of Moldovan-Hungarian dialogue

Chisinau, 4 February /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu has paid a visit to Hungary, at an invitation by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó. The officials’ discussions were focused on subjects dealing with the present stage and prospects for the Moldovan-Hungarian bilateral cooperation in the spirit of the strategic partnership and proceeding from the intention to boost the commercial exchanges and foster the investment activities, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.  

„I spoke out for maintaining the positive dynamic of the Moldovan-Hungarian dialogue through strengthening the cooperation in the fields of economy, transport, agriculture, especially the exchange of good practices in the zootechnical sector and developing the infrastructure of irrigation of farmlands. We will organize the fifth session of the Moldovan-Hungarian joint commission for economic cooperation and the Moldovan-Hungarian forum of business people,’’ Deputy PM Nicu Popescu said.   

The diplomats stressed that Hungary was the first country with which Moldova had agreed, at the bilateral level, on the recognition of the vaccination certificates. At the same time, at present, the sides work for signing an agreement on the cutting of the roaming costs.    

„I invited, on this occasion, Hungarian citizens to visit Moldova and discover our picturesque places, by using the opportunity of resumption of the regular flight Chisinau-Budapest, a commitment which we fulfilled following the agreements reached at a visit to Chisinau by the Hungarian minister,’’ Minister Popescu noted.   

The Moldovan diplomacy head expressed gratitude for the support by Hungary of Moldova’s ambitious European agenda and conveyed the Moldovan government’s appreciation for Hungary’s assistance provided to Moldova in the last years in the fight against the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The sides signed in Budapest the programme on cooperation between Moldova’s Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary for 2022-2023 – a document which has at its basis Moldova’s aspirations for strengthening and deepening the bilateral cooperation.
