Chisinau, 20 April /MOLDPRES/ - Seventeen local public administration authorities will receive co-financing worth one million lei in all for backing district/municipal programmes of grants meant for youth organizations and young people’s initiative groups. The cabinet approved a decision to this end today. The initiative’s goal is to support the civic activism in communities, the government’s communication and public relations department has reported.

The financing, on parity principle, worth 100,000 lei at the most, is provided to the local public authorities who are part of the programme on development of youth centres and annually support young people’s initiatives through programme on non-refundable financing. Twenty one local public authorities are members of the programme in all.

The Education and Research Ministry (MEC) will coordinate and monitor the carrying out of the programmes of local grants, allocating the financial resources needed for implementation, after receiving the requests on financing. At the same time, MEC urges the local public administration authorities to elaborate proposals of projects focused on the settlement of community and local challenges and to benefit from non-refundable financing.

Additional information on the carrying out of the programme of local grants can be requested from local public administration authorities of the second level.
