National Agency for Energy Regulation found irregularities at "Apă-Canal Chisinau" company

Chisinau, July 7. /MOLDPRES/- The National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) has found several irregularities at "Apă-Canal Chisinau" company. The report on the results of the control of the institution's activity in 2020-2022 will be submitted to the General Prosecutor's Office.

Following the control, ANRE found "the inefficient management of the contracts with the EBRD and EIB, especially due to the inability to comply with some contractual conditions and clauses, as well as the delay in the implementation of investment projects, the non-repayment of loans within the terms, which generated inefficient expenses of 3.9 million euros, and the initially planned implementation period has been extended by 2023".

At the same time, ANRE established that the company is exposed to a major risk of inability to pay the due bonds, given that at the end of 2022, the balance of the funds was 13.1 million lei, while the due bonds were 692, 6 million lei.

As a result of the control, ANRE obliged the management of SA "Apă-Canal Chișinău", within three months, to take actions to rectify the situations, including ensuring the continuity of the provision of the water supply and sewage service.

The report will be submitted to the General Prosecutor's Office and the Chisinau Municipal Council for examination according to the competence of the actions of the company's responsible persons and issuing the necessary decisions.

"Apă-Canal Chisinau" company has not yet come with a reaction to the issue.
