About 300 enterprises to benefit from financial support through EU-supported program

Chisinau, July 13. /MOLDPRES/- About 300 companies from the Republic of Moldova will be able to benefit from financial support for development under the European Union for small and medium-sized enterprises project. The initiative was launched today and has a total value of 8 million euros.

Deputy Prime Minister Dumitru Alaiba, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization said that the financial support will help the beneficiaries take rapid steps towards development, creation of new jobs, increasing the quality and diversification of the products and services offered. Under the new program, priority will be given to rural businesses and those run by women.

The head of the EU Delegation to Chisinau, Janis Mažeiks, said that the new initiative is a unique opportunity to support small and medium-sized businesses in Moldova and represents a continuation of a previous project supported by the EU. Thanks to the new program, businesses will have more opportunities for development. In addition to financial support, the entrepreneurs will benefit from consulting services from the EU, Ambassador Janis Mažeiks said.

The director of the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA), Dumitru Pîntea, said that the EU support aims to complement the sources that the state currently offers to entrepreneurs through several already existing grant programs. 

Grant applications can be submitted online on an ongoing basis.
