Moldovan, American officials approach cooperation

Chisinau, July 13. /MOLDPRES/- Visiting Washington, Speaker Igor Grosu had meetings with congressmen Marcy Kaptur, William Keating, Jason Krow and Deborah K. Ross, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
The officials talked about the security challenges in the region and how they affect the Republic of Moldova. "For two years, despite the multiple crises, we have been carrying out an extensive process of reforms in several key areas that aim to improve people's lives, energy independence and development of villages and cities," he said.
Grosu said that the relationship with the United States of America is significant for strengthening the country's resilience and the authorities will continue to deepen it. "Through the strong support we receive from the US, we are progressing in modernization and accession to the European Union," he said.
He thanked the US for adopting sanctions against the oligarchs who impoverished and tried to destabilize the internal situation in Moldova, the adopted measure representing an important step in joint efforts to maintain stability and public order in the country.
The discussion agenda also included the issue of how the United States can help our country to cope with current challenges. The speaker thanked for the assistance Moldova has received in over 30 years of collaboration.
