Chisinau, July 14. /MOLDPRES/- This year, Diaspora Days will be held on August 18-19 in Chisinau and will be marked by two special events: Diaspora Congress - on August 18, and Diaspora Business Forum - on August 19. State Secretary of the State Chancellery Adrian Baluțel made the statement today, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

Diaspora Days aim to promote dialogue between the diaspora and the country, as well as to mobilize citizens from everywhere, diaspora associations and civil society in a joint effort to promote, support and develop the Republic of Moldova. In this context, in recent years, the authorities have implemented several government programs to encourage the diaspora to return and invest at home. Only in 2022, 39 entrepreneurial projects obtained non-refundable financing through the DAR 1+3 program, and agricultural producers received subsidies in advance.

During the 10th edition of the Diaspora Congress, participants will interact with officials from public institutions and representatives of partner organizations, and will discover the advantages of investments in key sectors of the economy. Those present will get familiarized with the digital mechanisms dedicated to the diaspora, exchanging knowledge and ideas.

On the second day, at the Diaspora Business Forum, the guests will present the trends and priorities in the national economy, as well as the investment opportunities in Moldova. The event will aim at promoting local products, drawing investments and identifying new opportunities for expansion of exports.

"Diaspora has a valuable contribution in the Republic of Moldova, actively participating in social and political development, and remittances remain an important source of fuel for economic growth, representing 14% of GDP in 2022. Diaspora Days represent a good opportunity to meet our citizens from different countries, to thank them and present them with the government offer through which we ensured that we have all the mechanisms to support and motivate the diaspora to invest at home", said Adrian Baluțel.

To participate in the Diaspora Days events and to benefit from all the activities and information sessions, Moldovan citizens from abroad can register by accessing the official platform: https://congresuldiasporei.gov.md/.

The Diaspora Days are organized with the support of the Policy Advisory Fund project, financed by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development and implemented by the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ) in Moldova.
