Chisinau, 21 July /MOLDPRES/ - The so-called interior ministry of the breakaway Moldovan Transnistrian republic (rmn) today asked for assistance from Moldova’s Interior Ministry (MAI), in order to investigate the case of murder of a civic activist from the Transnistrian region, Oleg Khorzhan.

This fact was anticipated on 18 July, when Head of the European Union’s Delegation to Moldova Jānis Mažeiks had a meeting with the breakaway Transnistrian leader, Vadim Krasnoselsky, in Tiraspol. At the event, the EU official was informed about the case of violent death of the opposition leader from the Transnistrian region, Oleg Khorzhan.

According to Krasnoselsky, a criminal file was opened on this case under the article which envisages murder. ‘’The case of Oleg Khorzhan is under my personal control. All versions are considered or for the moment, some conclusions can be drawn about this crime. We will discover the offence, will identify and name the perpetrators. If needed, we will appeal to Moldova’s Interior Ministry,’’ the alleged president from Tiraspol said at that time.

Next week, parliamentary hearings will be held on the case of death of the leader of the Communists from the Transnistrian region, Oleg Khorzhan. The competent institutions will be invited to the hearings, in order to consider all circumstances of the cause and the measures undertaken by Moldova’s authorities.

The leader of the Communists from the Transnistrian region, Oleg Khorzhan, who has earlier been illegally detained by the so-called Tiraspol authorities, on 17 July was discovered shot dead in his own dwelling in a settlement nearby Tiraspol.
