Ten localities in Edineț cut off power due to heavy rainfall and strong wind

Chisinau, July 28. /MOLDPRES/- Ten localities in Edineț district remain disconnected from electricity following the heavy rain and strong wind of July 25-26. The specialized teams take the necessary measures to reconnect them.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), in the last 24 hours, teams of rescuers and firefighters intervened in 14 cases to liquidate the consequences of the bad weather. They carried out clearing works of fallen branches and trees on the roadway, pumping water, as well as removing objects with a risk of falling, in the districts of Edineț, Cimișlia, Drochia, Soroca, Ialoveni, Șoldănești, Hâncești, Criuleni and Nisporeni.

Following heavy rainfall, on July 26, hail damaged several hectares of vines. Thus, about 60 ha were destroyed in Orhei district, 20 ha in Dubăsari district and 9 ha in Cahul. At the same time, the weather affected several agricultural crops and orchards.

Following the strong wind, the roofs of 19 private houses and 14 residential blocks were damaged in several localities in Dondușeni district. Also, in the district of Dubăsari, the town of Cocieri, 154 sheets of slate were torn from the roofs of 13 houses by the wind, and 60 sheets from the roof of a warehouse were damaged.
